Launch event, 12/07/03
The Oxford Solar Initiative was officially launched on Saturday, 12 July 2003 with a display of domestic solar technologies at the main entrance of the Westgate shopping centre in central Oxford. City residents had a rare opportunity to see solar water heating and solar electricity (photovoltaic) products in operation and to receive advice on how to source them with grants of up to 50%. Local suppliers and university academics presented established brands from the solar business. The event was blessed with fantastic sunny weather which reinforces the project partners' ambitions to make Oxford a truly solar city.
