Rural Technologies Enterprise Ltd
(RTE, Kenya) is a energy technology production, training, development and services
company established in 1988 in Nairobi. ESD's senior directors have been working
with the Managing Director of RTE since 1985. RTE has 20 employees. It has been
active in the field of improved urban and rural stoves development and commercialisation
since its formation. It has provided consulting services to a range of organisations
and enterprises, including ESD, in Kenya (Ashden Trust, WHO, GTZ, UNHCR, GEF,
etc.), Ethiopia (World Bank, DFID, GTZ, etc.), Tanzania (DFID, GTZ, UNDP, etc.),
Uganda (AKF, DFID, WHO, etc.), and Somalia (EC, IUCN). It has trained stove
producers on improved household, commercial and institutional stoves, and has
carried out commercial market assessments in each of these countries. RTE is
working with ESD on the DFID KAR deployment of institutional and commercial
stoves project and a regional (Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia) urban household stoves
project.
