Renewable Energy Development Center
(REDC - Uganda) is a private firm established 2 years ago specialising in research, training and consultancy with a particular bias towards household energy management, rationalising the traditional fuels sectors, rural electrification and sector reforms. REDC works in close association with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and a number of NGOs active in the field.

REDC's top directors have been active in the field of Energy Development since 1994. Having participated on a series of energy related studies, notably World Bank / ESMAP studies, GTZ national energy policy development studies, DfID household energy consumption and production assessments, among very many others.

The directors of REDC have worked closely with ESD since 1996 providing technical backstopping and field co-ordination support. Currently REDC is doing final write-ups, including the preparation of a set of proposed project interventions, for two DfID financed household energy studies.

REDC envisions engaging in the actual marketing and dissemination of renewable energy technologies in the near future.
